WASHINGTON, N.C. - An EMT volunteer responding to a call for help wound up in the hospital on Christmas Eve.
Major Kenneth Watson with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office says James Rosene responded to the injured person call around seven o'clock Saturday night.
Soon after, two family members, Bobby Covey Sr. and Bobby Covey Jr., attacked Rosene hitting and kicking him.
Once the EMS crew arrived, it had to take Rosene to the hospital. A second ambulance was called to assist the injured person.
Watson says Covey Sr. then fought against two sheriff's deputies.
He's charged with felony assault on an EMS worker and a government official.
Covey Jr. faces similar charges.
They're both expected in court on December 29th.
